About
Yuki Tanaka was born and raised in Yamaguchi, Japan. He is the author of Chronicle of Drifting (Copper Canyon Press, 2025), a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. He also co-translated A Kiss for the Absolute: Selected Poems of Shuzo Takiguchi (Princeton University Press, 2024) with Mary Jo Bang.
His poems have appeared in The Paris Review, The Nation, The New Republic, POETRY, and other journals. His chapbook, Séance in Daylight (2018), was selected by Sandra Lim for the Frost Place Chapbook Competition.
He holds an MFA from the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas at Austin and a PhD in English from Washington University in St. Louis. He currently lives in Tokyo and teaches at Hosei University.
